Stupid Recording Studio Tricks

This section is devoted to works that may not, cannot, or will not be included in official Llarion's Lair Records releases, but they sure are good goofy fun. Note that any "covers" on these pages are presented for evaluation purposes only, are not for sale or resale, unless duly licensed by the respective publishers and composers.

On to the fun stuff!

Take I
My father in law Bob Hicks and I are working up a comedy/folk duo, we're calling it Geezerband. One of the trademark "bawdy" folk songs we're going to do is called Three Legged Man. This is a remixed and remastered version of the recording, and I added 5 vocal harmony parts to it this evening, as well as a 3rd guitar. (7/15/06) Getting ready for Swannanoa; this really puts me in the mood!!

THREE LEGGED MAN

Take II
Sometimes, Geezerband will be serious, as evidenced with this tender arrangement of the Beatles classic, In My Life. This is a remix and remaster of our recording

IN MY LIFE

Take III
I had a great day on Saturday (3/16/02) with my father in law and his friend Larry, they used to sing together professionally, and they wanted to come and record, so we did. We did a cover of Pure Prairie League's Amie! I'm playing bass and singing the high harmony part; My father in law Bob Hicks is playing the high-string guitar and sings the middle harmony part, and Larry is playing the 12-string and electric guitars, and singing lead vocals.

AMIE

Take IV
My best friend Jimmy Dacey got a new guitar pedal with "wah wah", and we went nuts and silly and decided to record a song for a hypothetical adult film soundtrack, aptly titled "The Porn Song"! Take a listen, it's hysterical!!! It's sort of maybe even more "70s Cop Show Theme" than an actual porn song, but hey, we had a blast.

THE PORN SONG

Take V
Okay, so I've been feeling a little inspired lately. From a theological perspective, that is. And, as a result, musically. Anyway, this song Breathe is one we do regularly in my Praise band at church. I had it in my head all day yesterday (12/29/02), and I decided I needed to record it or go nuts. So I did. Yeah, it's a cover. I'm not profiting or anything, so don't tell. Thanks.

Take VI - The Frampton Thing
My second cousin, John Regan, has been the bass player for Peter Frampton's touring and studio bands for over 25 yeas. It's long been a fantasy of mine to share the stage with Mr. Frampton, and though it will never happen in real life; I did manage it through the miracle of technology. Peter's 1994 eponymous album was re-mastered and re-released, and on the CD was several bonus tracks of Peter in a small venue in Japan, just playing his guitar and singing. Well, I heard it and said to myself "Hmm... Blank palette".. So, I grabbed the recordings, imported them into my studio, and added myself playing drums, bass, keys, and rhythm guitar along with Peter. Here is the first one, a couple of others are in the finishing stages. I plan to present my cousin and Peter with a CD of these efforts as a gift.

BABY, I LOVE YOUR WAY
